With GPS, Triptik, and printed out directions we set out on the road bright and early. The drive went very smoothly in Brad's truck, the Friar, and we jammed out to the 80s hits on Pandora. We were even introduced to three new turnpikes which shortened our trip by 30 minutes! It's amazing how much can change in the 6 years since I've driven to Kansas from Dallas.
Once in Kansas City we spent some time with Judy and her family as well as explored my favorite outlet mall, The Legends.
Brad even made an archaeological discovery...ok maybe not really
Judy and I even returned to the scene of the crime....where our friendship began
and we bonded over a hot pair of red boots
Later on that night, we introduced Brad to the Sushi Train and the spot where I asked Rosie and Judy to be my bridesmaids.
The next day we visited my home away from home and beloved alma mater, The University of Kansas
We even found Manny a sweatshirt from my favorite store, ACME
We also took Brad on a driving tour of Lawrence to visit my dorm from freshman year, Hillel, my old apartment, and the house Rosie and I lived in when I moved back to Lawrence
Once back in Kansas City, we woke up to this outside our window as well, as a lovely case of food poisoning for me
Needless to stay, we couched it all day in Judy's place and introduced her to the amazingness that is "Amish Mafia" and "Shahs of Sunset." I missed out on seeing some friends unfortunately, but that's what other trips are for! Once the food posioning was out of my system we took a trip to the Plaza.
That night we rang in the New Year (minus Rosie, whom unfortunately couldn't make it because of the crazy snow and ice on the roads) at the Alamo Drafthouse.
The next day we left in the morning to head back to Texas to see the family and spend some quality time with our little muppet, Manny, whom we missed dearly.
All in all, it was a wonderful trip and we can't wait to hopefully see our friends again soon here!!
